XM Radio Display Is Blank and No Station Information Is Displayed (With Acuralink)




Symptom Troubleshooting: XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed

XM radio display is blank and no station information is displayed (with AcuraLink)

NOTE:

- Check the vehicle battery condition first.

- Check the connectors for poor connections or loose terminals.

- If you replace the XM receiver, the AcuraLink must be reactivated by Acura Client Services.

1. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

2. Disconnect AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P).

3. Measure the voltage between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 1 and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?
YES - Go to step 4.

NO - Repair open in the wire between the No. 5 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and XM receiver connector A (32P) terminal No. 1.






4. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

5. Measure the voltage between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 3 and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?
YES - Go to step 6.

NO - Repair open in the wire between the No. 32 (10 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 3.






6. Measure the voltage between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 2 and body ground.

Is there battery voltage?
YES - Go to step 7.

NO - Repair open in the wire between the No. 21 (10 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box and AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 2.






7. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

8. Reconnect the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P).

9. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

10. Measure the voltage between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No. 28 and body ground.

Is there less than 0.1 V?
YES - Go to step 11.

NO - Repair open in the wire between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) terminal No 28 and body ground (G602).






11. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

12. Disconnect AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P), navigation display unit 20P connector, HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector, USB adapter unit connector A (14P), and navigation unit connector B (32P).

13. Check for continuity between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) and body ground according to the table. Then check for continuity between the same terminals listed in the table and the navigation display unit 20P connector terminal No. 14 (the harness shield).





Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver). Replace the affected shielded harness.

NO - Go to step 14.






14. Check for continuity between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) and USB adapter unit connector A (14P) according to the table.





Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 15.

NO - Repair open in the wire(s) between the audio unit and the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver).






15. Check for continuity between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) and the navigation display unit 20P connector according to the table.





Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 16.

NO - Repair open in the wire(s) between the navigation display unit and the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver).






16. Check for continuity between AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver) connector A (32P) and HandsFreeLink control unit 28P connector according to the table.





Is there continuity?
YES - Substitute a known-good AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver), AcuraLink Control Unit (XM Receiver) Removal/Installation (With AcuraLink) then reconnect all of the connectors and recheck. If the symptom/indication goes away, update the AcuraLink control unit if it does not have the latest software, then recheck. If the software is the latest, replace the AcuraLink control unit. NO - Repair open in the wire(s) between the HandsFreeLink control unit and the AcuraLink control unit (XM receiver).
