Dashboard Replacement
Special Tools Required
- KTC trim tool set SOJATP2014*
*Available through the Acura Tool and Equipment Program.
SRS components are located in this area. Review the SRS component locations Locations and the precautions and procedures Service and Repair before doing repairs or service.
NOTE:
- Use the appropriate tool from the KTC trim tool set to avoid damage when prying components.
- Have an assistant help you when removing and installing the dashboard.
- Take care not to scratch the dashboard, body and other related parts.
- Put on gloves to protect your hands.
1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, Procedures then wait at least 3 minutes before beginning work.
2. Remove these items:
- Driver's switch panel Dashboard Driver's Switch Panel Removal/Installation
- Instrument fascia Instrument Fascia Removal/Installation
- Driver's vent panel Driver's Vent Panel Removal/Installation
- Passenger's vent panel Passenger's Vent Panel Removal/Installation
- Center console Center Console Removal/Installation
- Driver's dashboard lower cover Driver's Dashboard Lower Cover Removal/Installation
- Glove box Glove Box Removal/Installation
- Center trim, both sides Dashboard Center Trim Removal/Installation
- Utility pocket assembly Utility Pocket Housing Removal/Installation
- Gauge control module Service and Repair
- Audio-HVAC-control Audio Unit Removal/Installation
- Center speaker trim Speaker Test/Replacement
- Sunlight sensor Service and Repair
- In-car temperature sensor Service and Repair
- A-pillar trim, both sides Interior Trim Removal/Installation - A-Pillar Trim
- Steering column Steering Column Removal and Installation
- Select lever bracket A/T Shift Lever Removal
Passenger's side
3. Remove the screw, then remove the passenger's joint duct (A).
4. Disconnect and detach the passenger's airbag connector (A), from the steering hanger beam, and detach the steering hanger beam wire harness clip (B). Remove the passenger's airbag mounting nuts.
Center
5. Disconnect the RF unit connector (A) and detach the harness clip (B) from the unit bracket (C). Tie a string to the sunlight sensor harness connector (D), then pull the connector out through the hole (E) in the dashboard. Remove the bolts, then remove the RF unit (F).
6. From the front of the dashboard, remove the screws (A) and the bolts (B, C) securing the dashboard/steering hanger beam (D).
7. Lift up on the dashboard (A) to release it from the guide pins (B), then carefully remove the dashboard through the front door opening.
NOTE: Lay the dashboard on its front or back. Do not rest it on the lower console opening or you may damage it.
8. Install the dashboard in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Make sure the dashboard fits onto the guide pins correctly.
- Before tightening the bolts, make sure the wire harnesses are not pinched.
- Make sure the connectors are plugged in properly.
- Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure. Procedures
- If necessary, adjust the shift cable. Adjustments
- Check for any DTCs that may have been set during repairs, and clear them.
- Reset the power window control unit. Testing and Inspection
- Do the steering column position memorization. Programming and Relearning
