Tightening Torques and Sequences

Cylinder head





Measure the diameter of each cylinder head bolt at point A and point B
If either diameter is less than 10.6 mm (0.42 in), replace the cylinder head bolt





Tightening torque 39 N-m (4.0 kgf-m, 29 lbf-ft)
Tighten further in two steps 90° per step
If you are using a new cylinder head bolt, tighten the bolt an extra 90 °

Camshaft bearing caps








VTC Actuator Mounting Bolt
12 x 1.25 mm 113 Nm (11.5 kgf-m, 83 lbf-ft)
Exhaust Camshaft Sprocket Mounting Bolt
10 x 1.25 mm 72 N-m (7.3 kgf-m, 53 lbf-ft)

Intake manifold





Tighten the bolts and nuts in a crisscross pattern in three steps, beginning with the inner bolt

Main bearing cap





Tightening torque 29 N-m (3.0 kgf-m, 22 lbf-ft)
Tighten additional 48 °





8 mm bolts 22 N-m (2.2 kgf-m, 16 lbf-ft)

Connecting rod bolts 41 Nm (4.2 kgf-m, 30 lb-ft)
Tighten additional 120 °

Crankshaft Pulley
Used crank and pulley 49 N-m (5.0 kgf-m, 36 lbf-ft)
Tighten additional 90 °

New pulley or crank
Tightening torque 177 Nm (18.0 kgf-m, 130 lbf-ft)
Remove bolt
Re-tighten 49 N-m (5.0 kgf-m, 36 lbf-ft)
Tighten additional 90 °

Flex plate





Tighten the eight bolts in a crisscross pattern in at least two steps

Flywheel





Torque the bolts (B) in a crisscross pattern in several steps

Oil pump





Water Pump

Torque 12 Nm (1.2 kgf-m, 8.7 ft lbs)
