Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) DTC Troubleshooting: 61
DTC 61: Millimeter Wave Radar Communication Error
1. Clear the DTC with the HDS.
2. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
3. Watch the adaptive cruise control (ACC) indicator and the CMBS indicator.
Do both indicators come on?
YES - Go to step 4.
NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
4. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 61 indicated?
YES - Go to step 5.
NO - Troubleshoot the indicated DTC(s). If there are no DTCs, the system is OK at this time.
5. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
6. Check the No. 29 (7.5 A) fuse in the under-dash fuse/relay box.
Is the fuse OK?
YES - Go to step 7.
NO - Replace the fuse and recheck.
7. Disconnect the millimeter wave radar 5P connector.
8. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
9. Measure the voltage between millimeter wave radar 5P connector terminal No. 1 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES - Go to step 10.
NO - Repair an open in the wire between the millimeter wave radar and the No. 29 (7.5 A) fuse in the driver's under-dash fuse/relay box.
10. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
11. Check for continuity between millimeter wave radar 5P connector terminal No. 4 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES - Go to step 12.
NO - Repair an open in the wire or poor ground (G401). Engine Compartment Wire Harness (Right Branch) Connector And Harness Locations
12. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II) and the ACC switch ON.
13. Measure the voltage between millimeter wave radar 5P connector terminal No. 5 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES - Go to step 15.
NO - Go to step 14.
14. Measure the voltage between ACC unit 20P connector terminal No. 17 and body ground.
Is there battery voltage?
YES - Repair an open in the wire between the ACC unit and the millimeter wave radar.
NO - Check for loose or poor connections. If OK, replace the ACC unit, Service and Repair then go to step 18.
15. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
16. Disconnect the ACC unit 20P connector.
17. Check for continuity between millimeter wave radar 5P connector terminal No. 5 and body ground.
Is there continuity?
YES - Repair a short to ground in the wire between the ACC unit and the millimeter wave radar.
NO - Check for loose or poor connections. If OK, replace the ACC unit, Service and Repair then go to step 18.
18. Clear the DTCs with the HDS.
19. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).
20. Watch the ACC indicator and CMBS indicator.
Do both indicators come on?
YES - Go to step 21.
NO - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time.
21. Check for DTCs with the HDS.
Is DTC 61 indicated?
YES - Check for loose or poor connections. If OK, replace the millimeter wave radar. Service and Repair After replacement, do the millimeter wave radar aiming. Adjustments
NO - Troubleshoot the indicated DTC(s). If there are no DTCs, the system is OK at this time.
