DTC P2552: Throttle Actuator Control Module Relay Malfunction

NOTE: Before you troubleshoot, record all freeze data and any on-board snapshot, and review the general troubleshooting information. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

1. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

2. Clear the DTC with the HDS.

3. Do the ETCS TEST in the INSPECTION MENU with the HDS.

Is the RELAY circuit OK?
YES - Intermittent failure, the system is OK at this time. Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the throttle actuator control module relay, the throttle actuator control module, and the PCM.

NO - Go to step 4.

4. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

5. Remove the throttle actuator control module relay (A) from the passenger's under-dash fuse/relay box.

6. Test the throttle actuator control module relay. Power Relay Test

Is the relay OK?
YES - Go to step 7.

NO - Replace the throttle actuator control module relay, then go to step 10.

7. Jump the SCS line with the HDS.

8. Disconnect PCM connector E (31P).

9. Check for continuity between PCM connector terminal E3 and body ground.

Is there continuity?
YES - Repair short in the wire between the throttle actuator control module relay and the PCM (E3), then go to step 10.

NO - Go to step 17.

10. Reconnect PCM connector E (31P).

11. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II).

12. Reset the PCM with the HDS.

13. Do the PCM idle learn procedure. PCM Idle Learn Procedure

14. Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).

15. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and wait 10 seconds.

16. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P2552 indicated?
YES - Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the throttle actuator control module, the throttle actuator control module relay, and the PCM, then go to step 1.

NO - Troubleshooting is complete. If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.

17. Reconnect all connectors.

18. Update the PCM if it does not have the latest software, PCM Update or substitute a known-good PCM. Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes

19. Check for Pending or Confirmed DTCs with the HDS.

Is DTC P2552 indicated?
YES - Check for poor connections or loose terminals at the throttle actuator control module, the throttle actuator control module relay, and the PCM. If the PCM was updated, substitute a known-good PCM, Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes then recheck. If the PCM was substituted, go to step 1.

NO - If the PCM was updated, troubleshooting is complete. If the PCM was substituted, replace the original PCM. Service and Repair If any other Pending or Confirmed DTCs are indicated, go to the indicated DTC's troubleshooting.
