Work sequence

-tape area immediately above spoiler -open lid and remove nuts on back of spoiler -gently pull spoiler away from rear lid at both sides (arrow)


CAUTION

With painted spoilers do not bend edges excessively to avoid cracking paint.

- insert knife between spoiler and lid
- separate spoiler from lid with knife

Note

Use care not to damage paint finish

- remove any remaining adhesive from lid and spoiler with solvent such as 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner or equivalent

Work sequence

- without adhesive strip, mount spoiler in position on rear lid to check for correct fit
- bend sides as necessary to insure flush fit

- stick adhesive strip D 004400 on spoiler as shown, keeping adhesive strip about 2 mm from edge
- press out air bubbles
- remove paper backing on adhesive strip
- put spoiler on rear lid

Note

Adhesive strip on front of spoiler must not lie on trunk, otherwise adhesive may ripple in front area.

- tighten nuts on threaded spoiler bolts
- press spoiler tight in adhesive area, taking special care on sides
^ side areas may be made to fit flush by warming spoiler corners with hot forced air and pressing tightly to lid
