A universal door aligning tool is available for adjusting door hinges. The tool consists of two pins with M 8, M 10 and M 12 threads and a length of tubing.
This tool, No. 3114, is used to align most upper and lower hinges of front and rear doors. The following procedure describes the use of this tool.
Door hinges, adjusting
- remove clamping washer and pin from door check strap
- remove door hinge securing bolt and screw in appropriate pin in its place
- tighten pin
- soften paint around hinge area on body with a heat gun
- place tubing on pin and bend hinge in required direction (arrows) to adjust door alignment
Note
Check tightness of pin between attempts at bending hinge.
Install the check strap pin loosely while checking door alignment.
- when alignment is correct, tighten hinge bolt to proper torque:
^ 80 N-m (58 ft.lbs.)
- seal hinge area with preservation wax, Part No. AKR 321 M15.4
- install check strap pin and replace clamping washer
