ELECTROMECHANICALS COMPONENTS, INSTALLED:

Work sequence

- remove center console (see 5000S and 5000 CS Turbo Center Console, Removing/Installing)
- remove self locking nut (3) from selector lever pivot bolt and discard
^ do not remove bolt nor allow to slip out of shifter
- slip teflon washer (4) onto pivot bolt
- slip teflon washer (4) onto step washer (2)
- fit stepped washer into dished recess of lockout bracket (1)
^ smaller diameter faces towards selector lever bracket
- slip lockout bracket (1) together with step washer
(2) onto pivot bolt
- attach self locking nut (3) and tighten Tighten only until seated. If too tight, shifter will bond. If too loose, bracket could engage improperly.


Note

If a self locking nut is not included in the kit then use the nut provided along with an application of Loctite (R).

^ torque non self locking M6 nut N 011 006 023L:
5.6 N-m (4.1 ft.lbs.)

CAUTION Ensure that there is no obstruction to shifter movement or smoothness, after installing lockout bracket (1).
- assemble lockout solenoid (5) to solenoid bracket
(7) using two small bolts
- install lockout solenoid assembly
- position lockout solenoid bracket (7) to tang (arrow) on selector lever bracket
- secure solenoid bracket (7) to selector lever bracket with machine screw (9) which has been first inserted into small step washer (8)
^ smaller face of step washer (8) faces solenoid bracket (7)
^ carefully center and position before tightening


- install return spring (10) between lockout bracket (1) and solenoid bracket (7)
