Modification of Special Tool #3086 (Installation Mandrel), used to Assist in the Repair of Power Steering Rack on Audi 5000 models

Due to dimensional deviations in production, occasionally a situation may occur where Special Tool #3086, installation mandrel, will not fit into the steering housing nor allow installation of the small inner seal. Should this situation occur, the following modifications may be made to Special Tool #3086.




Instructions for Modifying Special Tool #3086:


1. Remove -0.5 mm from each diameter marked "A" - Figure 1

2. Remove -0.2 mm from diameter marked "B" - Figure 2


NOTE: The correct tip end for modification "B" is 24 mm long
