Air Bag Systems

^ The following chart lists all possible airbag system malfunctions, as recognized by the airbag control module. These DTCs are stored in the airbag control module's memory and can be displayed on the VAG 1551 scan tool.

^ If malfunctions occur sporadically, or if DTC memory was not erased after correcting malfunctions, these malfunctions will occur as sporadic malfunctions, displayed as "/SP" on the right side of the VAG 1551 scan tool display.

^ If a component is diagnosed as malfunctioning, check wiring to that component using wiring diagram.

^ If several components are listed as malfunctioning, service one component at a time, erasing the DTC memory and rechecking it after each malfunction is corrected.
