DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHARTS

These charts contain:

Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC) output by the VAG 1551 Scan Tool
A five digit numeric code, Example: 65535

Generic Scan Tool (GST) Codes output by a generic scan tool.
A five digit alpha numeric code, Example: P 0605

These charts also contain "Possible cause" and "Corrective steps" that may be used to help in diagnosis and repair of the vehicle.

These charts also contain Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) status

Before replacing any component indicated as faulty always check the wiring and connections for the components and check the grounds using the proper wiring diagram for the vehicle. These checks are very important if the fault is intermittant.

If malfunctions occur occasionally or if the DTC memory was not cleared after a malfunction was repaired, these malfunctions are stored as "sporadic malfunctions" and "SP" is displayed on the VAG 1551 with the DTC.
