Sill panel undercoating or body damage due to contact with hoist lift arms or floor jacks.

Production

Hoist lift point pads installed as of September

1999 beginning with VIN: 8N_Y1 015426.

Service

For vehicles without hoist lift point pads:

- Repair body damage or undercoating as necessary.





- Remove round body plugs -arrow- from both left and right sides of vehicle at front of vehicle.

- Install hoist lift point pads into these locations (pads must be fully seated).





- Remove round body plugs -arrow- from both left and right sides of vehicle at rear of vehicle.

- Install hoist lift point pads into these locations (pads must be fully seated).

Lift point pads, installing

- Lubricate hoist lift point pad Part No: 8N0 804 583 with solution of soapy water. Tire mounting soap (available locally) works well.





- Insert hoist lift point pad -white arrow- into holes (where body plugs were removed).

- Lubricate tapered lift point pad spreader, Part No: 8N0 803855 with solution of soapy water.

- Insert tapered lift point pad spreader -black arrow- into lift point pad as shown. Press into lift point pad until fully seated.

CAUTION!
When lifting a vehicle, always make sure the hoist lift arms do not come into contact with the vehicle sill panel or body undercoating.

Repair any damaged undercoating!
