Instrument Cluster, Whistling/Buzzing Noise

Model(s):
TT (Coupe, Roadster) 2000, 2001

Supercedes T.B. Group 90 Number 01-01 dated Sept. 28, 2001

Condition

Instrument Cluster whistling / buzzing noise can be heard if instrument lights are not set on maximum illumination.

May be caused due to the dimming signal which mechanically stimulates electronic components in the instrument cluster.

Service

- Check software version of cluster in vehicle using the VAS 5051 NAS 5052 diagnostic tool (see Repair Manual, Electrical Equipment Group 01 - On Board Diagnostic (OBD)).

For 2000 m.y. vehicles with this condition:

- Replace instrument cluster with new cluster using updated software version D09 (see Repair Manual, Electrical Equipment Group 90 - Instrument cluster).

For 2001 m.y. vehicles with this condition:

- Replace instrument cluster with new cluster using updated software version D55 (see Repair Manual, Electrical Equipment Group 90 - Instrument cluster).





- Software version of new cluster can be identified by sticker on instrument cluster (arrow).

The Part No. of the instrument cluster has not changed, however, ALWAYS check with your Parts Department for the latest Parts information.
