Condition

AM has poor / erratic reception characteristics.

Reception improves with rear defroster ON.

Service

- Perform normal audio diagnosis.

If no faults are present:

- Remove left antenna module -R108- for diversity antenna system (see Repair Manual Electrical Equipment, Communication Group - 91, Left antenna module -R108- (Avant), removing and installing).





- Check that left antenna module -R108- production date is later than 02/30/01.

^ Units produced with a production date on or after 02/30/01 have improved internal hardware.





Example

If left antenna module -R108- production date is earlier than 02/30/01:

- Install new left antenna module Part No: 8E9 035 225B.

- Additional diagnosis is necessary to determine cause for faulty AM reception.
