Rear differential bushings, removing and installing

Removing
- Place engine/transmission jack VAG1383 A with a hard piece of wood beneath differential and support.
- Remove combination bolts from differential bushing.
- Remove threaded connections for rear crossmember/differential.
- Pull out rear crossmember downward.

CAUTION!: In order to prevent damage to the drive axle, do not allow the differential to be lowered!





- Use special tool T 40032 as shown in illustration and remove differential bushing.

Note: For a clearer view, the subframe mount as shown disassembled.

Installing
- Align differential bushing as shown, Refer to Body and Frame, Subframe, Service and Repair, See Item 12.





- Use special tool T 40032 as shown in illustration and insert differential bushing.

Note:
^ Press in from the front.
^ Outer bushing ring must be flush with sleeve on subframe mount.

- Bolt rear crossmember to differential.
- Bolt rear crossmember to subframe mount.
- Remove engine/transmission jack.
