Windshield Washer Reservoir: Service and Repair
Washer Fluid Reservoir, Removing And Installing
NOTE: The washer fluid reservoir supplies both the windshield and the headlight washer systems, and is located at the front left of the engine compartment.
Removing upper washer fluid reservoir part
- Remove cover -1- in engine compartment (left side).
- Unbolt upper part of washer fluid reservoir -arrows-.
- Pull upper part of washer fluid reservoir out from bottom section of washer fluid reservoir.
Removing lower washer fluid reservoir part
- Remove left front wheel.
- Remove wheel housing liner, front left.
- Disconnect electrical harness connector -3-.
- Remove washer fluid hose -1- at washer fluid pump.
- Remove bolts -2-, -4- and -5- of lower part of washer fluid reservoir.
- Swivel lower part of washer fluid reservoir slightly toward rear.
- Disconnect electrical harness connectors -1- and -2- at front side of reservoir.
- Remove hose connection -3- (press release button).
- Remove washer fluid reservoir downward.
NOTE: Illustration depicts washer fluid reservoir from front with the bumper removed.
Installing
Installation is reverse of removal, paying attention to the following:
- Tighten the bolts in order -2-, -4- and -5-.
NOTE: Washer fluid hose must engage audibly into connection for washer fluid pump.
Tightening torques
Bolt in upper part of washer fluid reservoir: 9 Nm
Nut to body: 1.2 Nm
Lower part of washer fluid reservoir to body: 7 Nm
