Subject:
Radio, Sound Volume May Fluctuate When Accelerating From a Stop

Model(s):
A8, A8L 2004 --> 2006

Condition

The sound drops to a lower volume when accelerating from a stop.

Volume increases then with the vehicle speed. When stopping the vehicle, the sound jumps to a higher volume.

Cause:

This condition can be encountered, if the MMI Most Bus components and the Data Bus on Board Diagnostic Interface -J533- are not compatible.

The Audiopilot function (arrow) has to be enabled in the MMI Menu Radio.

This can occur after update programming the MMI Most Bus components but not module -J533-.

It can happen as well, when -J533- was replaced by a module with an old software level.

Service

Solution:

The Data Bus On Board Diagnostic Interface -J533- has software level 0020 or 0030 and has to be updated (programmed) to 0040. Therefore, use Update CD W42A8317, which was sent free of charge to your Dealership.

Tip:

Additional copies of the "Update Programming" CD (Part No: W42A8317) may be ordered from the Audi Technical Literature Ordering Center.

- Insert Update CD W42A8317 in the CD drive of the VAS 5051/5052 Diagnostic Tool.

- Connect VAS 5051/5052 to the vehicle and select Addressword 19- Data Bus on Board Diagnostic Interface -J533- in Vehicle Self Diagnosis.

- Select Function "Update programming".

- Erase possible DTCs in all control units after performing the Update programming.

- Verify, if Audiopilot function works properly now.
