When the tester again sets up the connection with the EPB control unit it will perform the second part of the software update ("Application").

The software update was successful.
- Press the "Next" button (>).
If the software update fails:
The software update was not successful.
- Press the "Next" button (>).
- Press the "Next" button (>).
- Install a new EPB control unit according to the instructions in the Workshop Manual.
Submitting a report to the Software Versions Management (SVM)
- Select "Guided Fault Finding".
- Identify the vehicle.
The "Vehicle System Test" will be carried out, during which all fault memories will be read. If necessary, follow the further instructions on the screen and manually select any control units that have not been detected.
- Press the "Next" button (>) when all control units
- Select "Go to" and then "Function/Component Selection".
- Select the option "Software Versions Management (SVM)".
- Select the option 'Problem-related hardware and software update'.
- Select "Direct input: SVM code for problem-related update".
- Press the "Next" button (>) to transfer the selected option into the test plan.
- Select "Direct input: SVM code for problem-related update".
- Start the program by pressing the "Next" button (>).
- Activate the virtual screen keypad.
- Enter the code NA4E45CCIL and confirm with the "Next" button (>).
All the control units in the vehicle will now be interrogated and the data will be read by the tester.
- Confirm the message to the effect that you require a network connection with "Done".
- Enter your "GeKo" user-ID and confirm with "OK".
- Enter your "GeKo" password and confirm with "OK".
The data read out from the vehicle and the SVM code will now be transmitted.
Then, the reply from the Software Version Management will be received and evaluated.
The display will show the result of a Specified/actual comparison that is performed automatically by the system.
Note:
Should you receive an implausible reply from the SVM, please refer to the TSB 2011732; Software Version Management (SVM) Operating Manual and follow the troubleshooting procedures as listed in the Additional Information section.
- Press the "Done" button.
- Quit Guided Fault Finding by pressing "Go to" and "Exit".
- Press the "Exit" button to confirm that you want to end the program. The system will erase all fault memories and then interrogate them again. If the Readiness code was deleted please answer "No" to the question regarding the creation of the Readiness code.
- Follow the further directions given in the display.
In order to document and bill your work the diagnosis log has to be transmitted.
- Press the "Yes" button.
- Please answer all questions regarding workshop job number, chassis number, result of repair, and reference to ELSA (if applicable).
The VAS 5051 / VAS 5052 unit will now transmit the diagnosis log via the workshop network.
- Print out the diagnosis log for your records.
- Switch off the ignition.
