Affected Vehicles
39 Whining noise from rear differential
Condition
Rear differential makes a whining noise during deceleration at highway speeds.
This condition does not affect vehicle performance or driveability.
Technical Background
Bearing and bearing carrier may wear after 20,000 miles and cause a whining noise.
Production Solution
New final drive (0AR), gradually introduced in production. (The 01R rear differential has a black housing; the 0AR is unpainted and thus appears silver.)
