Condition

The trim for the electric steering column creaks when adjusting the steering column's height and width.

Technical Background





Friction between the steering column cover and upper steering column switch trim creates a rubbing or creaking sound when adjusting the steering column's height and width. (See yellow line in Figure 1.)

Production Solution

1. Pasted felt edge on the cover with lubricant.

2. Installed weaker springs on the cover to reduce the pressure.

Service





Paste the felt edge of the cover with a normal hand cream.
