Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 97 number 07-15 dated November 28, 2007 for reasons listed below.
Affected Vehicles
90 Indicator bulb warning on
Condition
After replacing a headlight, a warning for an inoperative indicator bulb is displayed in the IP cluster. However, all indicator bulbs are functioning correctly.
Technical Background
Newly delivered headlights contain a silver 12 V/24 W bulb instead of the previous yellow 12 V/16 W bulb. The 09 - Electronic Central Electrics module identifies the higher current as a failure of the indicator bulb.
Production Solution
Modified electronic central electrics module.
Service
1. Find out which bulb was installed in the original headlight.
2. If a yellow 12 V/16 W bulb was installed in the original headlight, replace the 09 Electronic Central Electrics module. Fit control units from index K. A software update does not fix the issue.
Tip:
A yellow indicator bulb cannot be installed in the new headlights because the bulb holders are different.
Warranty
When procedure applies to vehicles under warranty, use the table.
