Condition
Vehicles with TPMS software version 270 installed are between VIN ranges listed below:
Under the Tire Pressure Monitoring menu in the Multi-Media Interface (MMI), the "System" option is "OFF" and cannot be toggled to "ON". Also, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) warning light is ON in the instrument cluster.
^ Given these conditions, a fault may appear under "07 Front - display operating unit" as follows: 01325 004 Control Module for Tire Pressure Control, No signal/communication.
^ Beginning with software version 270, the "System" option under the Tire Pressure Monitoring menu in the MMI should not be available. However, due to a concern with software version 270, the "System" option may still be visible.
Tip:
DO NOT replace any TPMS components. Part numbers listed in this bulletin are for reference only Always check with your Parts Dept. for the latest parts information. Update software of the tire pressure monitoring system with the Update CD - part no. 4F0 906 961G and the VAS 5051/5052 Diagnostic tool.
Software version 280 will be installed. When complete, verify the software 280 update by checking the TPMS in the MMI.
Procedure:
Update - Programming (Flashing)
Note:
When performing the reflash procedure, ALL DTCs for all systems are erased.
DTCs linked to Guided Fault Finding function tests will be lost. Therefore, always address stored DTCs for Customer concerns unrelated to the reflash procedure first.
Tool requirements:
^ VAS 5051 or 5052 (with Basis CD V.07.00 and Brand CD V.07.36.00 or higher) with old diagnosis logs erased prior to start.
^ "Update - Programming" (flashing) CD Item No: 4F0 906 961 C.
^ Approved battery charger.
Tip:
The battery MUST have a minimum no-load charge of 12.5V (failure to maintain voltage during update process can lead to ECM failure). Use approved battery charger to maintain battery voltage.

Additional copies of the "Update - Programming" CD (Item No: 4F0 906 961 C) may be ordered from the Audi Technical Literature Ordering Center.
^ Updating TPMS control unit Via Update CD:
^ Insert update CD 4F0-906-961-C into VAS 5051/5052 tester.
^ From Start-up screen, select "Vehicle Self-Diagnosis".
^ Select Vehicle system "65 Tyre pressure monitoring".
^ Select the "Update-Programming" (arrow).
^ Follow instructions on VAS 5051/5052 tester.
Tip:
Software 270 will be erased and 280 will be installed.
The fault memory of other control units will be erased.
An ignition OFF / ON cycle will be required when prompted. However, DO NOT cycle the ignition while the software is loading.
When software update is complete, the Tire Pressure Monitoring System Control Unit needs to be coded.
^ Select "07-Code Control Unit" and input code "212127" on keypad when prompted (this needs to be carried out after the new software is installed).
- When complete, select "Initialize wheels" option in the MMI under Tire Pressure Monitoring menu.
- Test drive the vehicle until tire pressures appear in the MMI.
