Accessory Assembly Bracket

Removing

CAUTION!
Observe procedures for disconnecting battery.

- With ignition switched off, disconnect Battery Ground (GND) cable.

- Drain coolant. Refer to => [ Cooling System, Draining and Filling ] Procedures.

- Bring the lock carrier into service position. Refer to => [ Lock Carrier, Moving into Service Position ] Lock Carrier, Moving Into Service Position.

Before removing ribbed belt, mark the turning direction on it with chalk or a felt tip pen. A reversed turning direction can cause damage to the ribbed belt under operating conditions.





- Move the tensioning element in direction of - arrow - to release the tension on the ribbed belt.

- Remove ribbed belt.

- Remove bolts - arrows - and the ribbed belt tensioner.





- Remove generator.

- Remove intake manifold support by removing the bolts - arrows -.





- Remove front bolts - arrows - on the power steering pump.





- Remove rear bolt - arrow - on the power steering pump.





- Move the power steering pump to the side onto the longitudinal member. Lines remain connected.

- Remove lower coolant pipe. Refer to => [ Lower Coolant Pipe ] Lower Coolant Pipe.

- Remove coolant thermostat housing. Refer to => [ Thermostat Housing with Map Controlled Engine Cooling Thermostat ] Thermostat Housing With MAP Controlled Engine Cooling Thermostat.

- Disconnect electrical harness connector - arrow - at Oil Level Thermal Sensor (G266).





- Remove bracket for refrigerant line on oil pan - arrow -.





- Separate connector - 1 - for wiring to air conditioning compressor clutch solenoid.





CAUTION!
The air conditioning refrigerant circuit must not be opened.

- Remove air conditioning compressor from bracket - arrows -.

To prevent damage to the refrigerant lines/hoses, ensure that the lines and hoses are not stretched, kinked or bent.

- Hang up the air conditioning compressor with attached lines on the vehicle.

- Remove accessory assembly bracket bolts - 1 through 6 -.





Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

After removing, always clean the threaded holes in the cylinder block of any locking compound residue. Otherwise, there is the danger that the new bolts could seize up during installation and shear off when removed.

Cleaning can be performed with a thread cutter (tap).

- Install accessory assembly bracket bolts with locking compound.

- Then tighten bolts in sequence - 1 to 6 -.

- Install A/C compressor.

- Install coolant thermostat housing. Refer to => [ Thermostat Housing with Map Controlled Engine Cooling Thermostat ] Thermostat Housing With MAP Controlled Engine Cooling Thermostat.

- Install lower coolant pipe. Refer to => [ Lower Coolant Pipe ] Lower Coolant Pipe.

- Install power steering pump.

- To make it easier to install the generator, the power steering pump and the A/C compressor, move the bolt bushing slightly to the rear.

- Install generator.

- Install ribbed belt. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt ] Ribbed Belt.

- Install lock carrier with attachments. Refer to =>

- Place the torque support stop on the rubber buffer and tighten the nuts - arrows -.





- Install front bumper cover.

- Observe safety precautions after connecting battery.

- Fill with coolant => [ Filling ] Procedures.

- Check headlamp adjustment.
