Data Link Connector (DLC)

Location: The Data Link Connector (DLC) for Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051) is located in driver's side foot well.





The following listed components can be tested in "Guided Fault Finding" with vehicle diagnostic, testing and information system (VAS 5051).

Shift lock solenoid (N110)





Location: The selector lever lock solenoid is located in the shift mechanism and can only be replaced together with the shift mechanism function unit => [ Shift Mechanism Function Unit, Manual Release Assembly Overview ] Procedures.

Mechatronics unit, Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217), Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch (F125), Transmission Input Speed (RPM) Sensor (G182) and Transmission Output Speed (RPM) Sensor (G195)





Location: The mechatronics unit is bolted to underside of transmission housing and is covered by transmission oil pan.

The mechatronics unit incorporates the hydraulic control, Transmission Control Module (TCM), Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch and the sensors and actuators as a complete synchronized unit. Included are:

• Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217)

• Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch (F125)

• Transmission Input Speed (RPM) Sensor (G182)

• Transmission Output Speed (RPM) Sensor (G195)

The "Mechatronics" unit can only be replaced as a complete unit.

• All components mentioned are tested by On Board Diagnostics (OBD).

Internal transmission wiring harness

Location: The wiring harness - A - with connector - C - is attached to the mechatronics unit - B -.

Transmission Range (TR) Display (Y6)





Location: Integrated into instrument cluster

• Transmission Range (TR) Display (Y6) can only be replaced as a set with the instrument cluster.

Kick Down Switch (F8)

Location: Kick Down Switch (F8) is located on vehicle floor.





• Kick Down Switch (F8) is tested by On Board Diagnostics (OBD).

Tiptronic Switch (F189)

Location: Tiptronic Switch (F189) is integrated into circuit board of symbol insert, which is located in shift mechanism cover.

Coolant Cut-off Valve (N82)

Location: Coolant Cut-off Valve (N82) - 1 - is installed under transmission, next to ATF cooler.
