Affected Vehicles

91 Steering wheel electronics - stored DTC

Condition





- One of the following DTCs is stored in the steering wheel electronics control unit (J527):

- DTC 02071 (Local databus - defective)

- DTC 01426 (Control unit in steering wheel E221 - no signal/communication).

- No loss of functionality with the multifunction steering wheel.

Technical Background

Cycling the ignition several times quickly (within 5 seconds) may cause faulty messages on the LIN bus. This leads to one of the above fault entries.

Symptoms are not visible to the customer.

Production Solution

No change.

Service

Erase the DTC memory, as the entries have no effect on the functionality of the steering wheel electronics.
