MMI Infotainment System From 11.03.2008

MMI Infotainment System from 11.03.2008

The MMI from 11.03.2008 an advancement of the MMI currently in use. The cell phone preparation, external audio source connection, CD and DVD drives, navigation (with hard disc drive) and voice recognition system are integrated all together in one unit, the information electronics control module 1 (J794).

The radio/CD changer and digital sound system control module (J525) are connected via the MOST Bus. The basis sound systems are controlled directly by the radio. The satellite radio (R146) (SDARS) is optionally integrated in the radio.

Notes on MOST bus

The optical Data bus "MOST bus" is used in addition to the CAN bus.

A fiber-optic cable is used as a "connecting cable". Fiber optic cables are routed inside corrugated tubes for protection.

Replace complete fiber optic cable if possible.

Make sure that the face surfaces of the connectors do not become soiled.

If the connectors are disconnected: install the protective cap for cable connector (VAS 6223/9).

When installing fiber optic cables, make sure not to go below the minimum bending radius of 25 mm (1 in.). Do not crush or kink fiber optic cables.
