The transmission jumps out of 6th gear.

Improved 5th and 6th shift fork and gearshift unit.

Service

1. Verify shifter mechanism is within specification and adjust accordingly if necessary. ELSA > Transmission > Description and Operation > Selector Mechanism, Adjusting. Recheck for the concern. If the concern is no longer present, no further repairs are needed.

2. Verify all shift rods are in good working condition.

3. If concern is still present, remove the transmission according to instructions in ELSA.





4. Replace the 5th - 6th gear shift fork and ball sleeve (Item 4 and 5, Figure 1) and the gear shift unit (Item 6 Figure 1) per instructions in ELSA: Transmission > Manual Transmission Internal Components > 34 Controls, Housing > Disassembly and Assembly > Transmission, Assembly Sequence AND 35 Gears, Shafts > Disassembly and Assembly > Shift Fork Group, input shaft.

Tip:
When replacing the shift fork and ball sleeve, no further disassembly of input shaft is required.

5. Reinstall transmission and verify proper operation.
