Cabin Ventilation Duct: Testing and Inspection

Passenger Compartment Forced Air Extraction, Checking

In the Audi A8 sedan, the passenger compartment is ventilated via ventilation vents - B -, which are installed in the area under rear window - G - in rear shelf - A - in the luggage compartment.

Air is routed for forced ventilation in the passenger compartment via openings in the body to ventilation openings - D - in the upper luggage compartment trim in the luggage compartment.

Cooling of the upstream control modules is additionally performed via ventilation vents - C - installed in the front luggage compartment wall.

The air is conducted from the luggage compartment through the ventilation openings in left and right luggage compartment trims - E - into the space between the body and the luggage compartment trim to left and right ventilation frames - F -.

One vent frame - A - is installed in the body vent opening - C - on the left and the right for the forced air extraction.

Forced air extraction vent frames - A - are removed and installing from the outside (with the bumper cover removed).

Checking Ventilation Openings In Luggage Compartment Trim Panel

- Ensure that the air is being routed properly through the ventilation openings in upper luggage compartment trims - D - and on the left and right - E - and behind the rear luggage compartment trim to the two ventilation frames - F - in the luggage compartment (left and right).

To ensure proper functioning of the passenger compartment ventilation, ventilation openings - D - and - E - integrated in the luggage compartment trim must not be sealed.

Closed ventilation frames in luggage compartment trims - D - and - E - or blocked air ducts to ventilation frames - F - can result in fogging of the windshield, rear window, and door windows.

Forced Air Extraction Vent Frames, Checking From Inside:

- Make sure left and right ventilation frames - F - are not obstructed.

The sealing lips in ventilation frame - F - must move freely and close automatically. Stuck sealing lips can result in fogging of the windshield, rear window, and the door windows. The same is also true for closed or blocked air ducts to ventilation frames - F -.

To ensure that the sealing lips close correctly, ventilation frame - F - must be installed on the correct side.

Forced Air Extraction Vent Frames, Checking From Outside:

- Remove the rear bumper cover.

- Make sure the left and right ventilation frames - A - are not obstructed and that the sealing lips - B - function properly.

Stuck sealing lips - B - can cause fogging of the windshield, rear window, and door windows.

The ventilation frames - A - can only be installed in one position to ensure the sealing lips - B - close correctly.

In this illustration, ventilation frame - A - is depicted with rear bumper cover removed.

During installation, ventilation frame - A - should be pressed into the opening on the rear lid end piece until all retaining tabs of ventilation frame - A - engage securely in the body.
