SUBJECT:
Static Noise on AM/FM Bands When Vehicle is Driven over Bumps
MODELS:
All equipped with 1991 model Alpine radio
Situation:
In rare cases, the antenna connection on 1991 Alpine radios may loosen.
If this occurs, driving over bumps may produce static noise through the speakers with the radio tuned to an AM or FM station.
Correction:
Use needle-nose pliers to slightly push in and tighten the 4 ground tab contacts to obtain a firmer contact between the antenna cable and the radio. Refer to illustration.
Also, slightly spread the ends of the center contact with a tool (such as a knife blade, center punch) in order to widen this contact and improve the connection. Refer to the illustration.
