Automatic Stability Control

ASC is available as an option on the 535i and 735i/iL and will be standard on the 850iA. The 750iL and 850i will be equipped with ASC+T. ASC uses the ABS sensors to detect wheel spin and automatically reduces the engine's power (output) to eliminate wheel slip. On the 535i and 735i/ iL, the ASC option requires that the vehicle be equipped with EML, which is otherwise not available on these two models. In addition to the control unit and hardware of the EML system, the EGS control unit and the Motronic's variant code are different from a non-EML equipped 535i or 735i. The 750iL and 850i (manual trans.) will add Traction Control to the ASC system (ASC+T). Traction control takes ASC one step further by also pulsing the brakes to control wheelspin.
