Electronic Dampening Control
In order to improve handling while still maintaining a smooth ride, 7 and 8 series vehicles have the option of Electronic Dampening Control (EDC III). This system varies the dampening characteristics for the front and rear shocks between soft, medium, or hard based on input from sensors that monitor front and rear vertical body acceleration, longitudinal body acceleration, and
steering angle changes. A selector switch allows the driver to choose the Comfort position, which permits shock dampening in all three modes, or Sport, which limits the shock dampening to medium and hard only for firm control. Please refer to TRI 37 01 90 (2107) for specific information on EDC.
