The bumper and outside mirrors are color coded to the body color, with black rubber impact surfaces on the front and rear bumpers.

Drive Train -

The 325is drive train will consist of the M50 2.5 liter, 24-valve six cylinder engine coupled with either the Getrag 5-speed manual or the electronically controlled 4- speed automatic transmission - A4S 310R.

The 318is version of the coupe features a revised M42 4-cylinder engine which includes a two-section "Differential Air Intake System" (DISA) and an adaptive, cylinder-selective knock control system as well as other design changes. The new M42 engine develops more power compared to the E30 M42, increasing to 138hp (103kw) at 6000 rpm. Torque has also been increased by 5% overall, with higher torque at low engine speeds, making the engine considerably more flexible.

The Getrag 5-speed manual transmission is installed exclusively on M42 powered E36 models in production. The M50 powered E36 coupe model with automatic transmission will include the shift lock feature. As introduced on the E36 Sedan, the new maintenance schedule (1200 mile Service dropped) is also used on the E36 coupe models.
