SUBJECT:
E36 Coupe General Information

MODEL:
318is, 325is

With the introduction of the E36 2 door, BMW expands the 3 Series modelineup to include a newly designed coupe model. Sharing only its front end with the sedan, almost all of the E36 coupe's body panels are newly developed. Its hood is 3.1 in. (78.7 mm) longer, its roof 1.0 in. (25.4 mm) lower and overall width is 0.5 in. (12.7 mm) greater.

Other body features include flush frameless side windows which cover the Bpillars, more steeply raked windshield and rear window, a lower trunk lid line and wider shallower tail light assemblies.

The E36 coupe aerodynamic drag coefficient is slightly better at C(D) = 0.32 (vs. C(D) = 0.33 for the sedan) and because of the lower profile its overall aerodynamic resistance is almost 2 percent less.
