Vehicles Affected

The vehicles involved are 1991-92 318i produced from 6/90-4/91, 318is produced from 3/90-4/91 and 318iC produced from 10/90-11/91.

In order to determine if a specific vehicle in this range is affected by the recall, it will be necessary to utilize the "Service Menu" of DCS (Dealer Communication Systems). Proceed to item # 6 "Vehicle History Inquiry" and enter the Chassis Number (last seven) of the vehicle in question. Based on the response of the system, either proceed with the corrective action or take no further action.

Note - if a customer presents the Customer Notification Letter (for that Chassis Number) it is not necessary to inquire on DCS. Perform the required inspection and/or repair.



The Chassis Number Ranges listed below are only for informational purposes and are not to be considered as the only deciding factor. The affected vehicles are limited to vehicles within these ranges, not all of these vehicles are affected by the recall. The final decision factor is the DCS inquiry and/or the Customer Notification Letter.
