SUBJECT:
New BMW Service Literature Terminology

Situation:
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has required all automobile manufacturers starting with 1993 model year to name emission and electrical parts according to SAE J-1930.

Solution:
Starting with the release of this Service Information, BMW service literature will begin to use terminology according to SAE J-1930.

Please find a preliminary list of old component terminology and the relating new component terminology.
