Procedure
1. Complete the "Request for Instrument Cluster Data Transfer" Form (attached). This form must be filled out completely, and signed by either the Service Manager, the Dealer Principal, or the General Manager.
2. For M3 orders only
Specify the correct Instrument Cluster part number. It is the dealers responsibility to order the correct part number, as once this data transfer is performed, it cannot be erased.
Fax a completed copy of the Request for Data Transfer to the PDC (Fax: (973) 691-1159).
The PDC will order an Instrument Cluster from PDC inventory as order type "VOR" including the usual handling charges.

Scenario 1
(The BMW center has a replacement Instrument Cluster with a preinstalled Coding Plug available from inventory)
Remove the coding plug from an in-stock instrument cluster and ship the coding plug only, to the Mt. Olive PDC, together with the completed
Request for Instrument Cluster Data Transfer" Form to:

* The PDC will update the mileage in the coding plug and return it together with a plastic retainer P/N 62 11 1 388 805, next day air shipment, free of charge.
Scenario 2
(The BMW center has a replacement Instrument Cluster, and a Coding Plug kit available from inventory)
Ship an individual coding plug from parts inventory to the Mt. Olive PDC, together with the completed Request for Instrument Cluster Data Transfer Form to:

The PDC will update the mileage in the coding plug and return it next day air shipment, free of charge.
Scenario 3
(The BMW center has a replacement Instrument Cluster available from inventory, but does not have a Coding Plug kit) Fax a copy of the Request for Instrument Cluster Data Transfer to the PDC. (Fax: (973)-691-1159)
A Coding Plug and plastic cover will be ordered by the PDC, as a "VOR" and the Coding Plug with updated mileage will be shipped next day air.
Scenario 4
(The BMW center needs entire Instrument Cluster and Coding Plug) Fax a completed copy of the request for data transfer to the PDC (Fax: (973)-691-1159).
The PDC will order an Instrument Cluster and Coding Plug from PDC inventory as order type "VOR" including the usual handling charges.
4. E36 Models, Excluding M3
Install the programmed Coding Plug in the replacement Instrument Cluster, and fit retaining cover P/N 62 11 1 388 805.
Install the complete Instrument Cluster on the vehicle, and code the cluster using the DIS tester, or MoDiC.*
* Transfer the odometer mileage using the Instrument Cluster Test Functions:
- Push reset button and switch on ignition to enter test mode.
- By pressing reset button repeatedly, scroll through test functions until test 15 is displayed.
- Press and hold the reset button at test 15, until "L OFF" is displayed - then release the button.
- Scroll to test 9.
- Press and hold the reset button for a minimum of 4 secs to transfer the mileage to the Instrument Cluster.*
5. M3 Vehicles
Install a complete Instrument Cluster on the vehicle, and code the cluster using the DIS tester, or MoDiC.
6. It is the dealers responsibility to follow normal warranty procedures regarding the return of the defective cluster to the Warranty Parts Return Center.
