Situation:
Various complaints may be encountered related to malfunctions of the Electronic Immobilizer (EWS 11) System. Listed below and on the following pages are five possible complaints, their causes, and troubleshooting and repair procedures specific to each complaint.
It is very important to correctly match the customer's complaint to the specific complaint description as described below.
A. Sporadically, one key fails to operate the starter.
B. Sporadically, no keys will operate the starter.
C. The starter operates after a delay.
D. The EWS II Control Module cannot be diagnosed.
E. Replacement EWS II Control Modules/keys do not function (electrically/mechanically).
