SUBJECT:
Condensation in Front Foglamps
MODEL:
E46 Coupe/Convertible (323Ci/Cic, 328Ci/Cic) Vehicles produced before June 2000
Situation:
One or both front foglamps have condensation on the inside of the lens which will not disappear after turning the headlights on briefly.
Cause:
The lower ventilation tube on the foglamp is kinked due to incorrect installation. As a result, there is inadequate ventilation of the front fog lamp.
Note that the kinked ventilation tube is only visible after the horizontal body colored trim piece below the foglamp has been removed.
Procedure:
In case of a customer complaint, remove the front foglamp and bulb (refer to Repair Instruction 63 17 000) and dry them out at a clean work place by using a hot air blower.
Reinstall the front foglamp, taking care that the lower ventilation tube is correctly installed (not kinked). In addition, check that the upper securing/ventilation grommet is tight.
It is not necessary to replace parts.
Warranty Information:
Covered under the terms of the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
