SUBJECT
Clock Symbol in Instrument Cluster Display

MODEL
E36 (3 Series), E36/7 (Z3)

SITUATION
The customer complains that a small clock symbol is in the instrument cluster display.

CAUSE
The clock symbol is a reminder that the brake fluid replacement is due.

PROCEDURE
To reset the clock symbol, connect the BMW reset tool to the diagnostic connector under the hood, then perform an "inspection reset"

If only the clock symbol appears in the instrument cluster display "inspection reset" resets the clock. If both, the clock as well as the "inspection" appears in the instrument cluster display, "inspection reset" has to be carried out twice.
