Repair Instructions for removing the shims and adjusting the hardtop caches

Note:
Removing the shims from under the retaining nuts for the hardtop caches and also readjusting the front and rear hardtop caches pulls the hardtop further forward and down. This reduces the gap between the cowl panel seal and the hardtop and eliminates the wind noise.





Unfasten the five clips (1) on the moulded roof lining (2).





Remove cover panel (1).

Note on installation: The wire (2) must be secured again with a clip (3).

Important:
The moulded roof lining (1) is strongly tensioned





Fold the moulded roof lining (1) out slightly in the area of the front hardtop catch.

Mark the position of the front hardtop catch.

Unscrew the nut (2).





Remove shim (1) from under the front hardtop catch (2).





Return the front hardtop catch (1) to the position marked.

Move the front hardtop catch (1) down from the position marked towards the linkage.

A = 1 to 1.5 mm

Tighten the nut.

Repeat the procedure for the right-hand side.

Remove the side trim upper section from the rear left and right on the B-pillar.

Mark the position of the rear hardtop catch.

Loosen the bolts (2) on the rear hardtop
catch (1).





Move the rear hardtop catch (1) down from the position marked. A = 1 to 1.5 mm

Tighten bolts (2).

Repeat the procedure for the right-hand side.

Reassemble the vehicle.
