23 00 121 - Installing replacement transmission (GS6S37BZ SMG)





Important!
After completing work:
- Perform adaptation using DIS Tester, refer to "Service Functions" in DIS Tester (Teach in transmission)
- Check transmission oil level Procedures
Use only the approved transmission oil.
- Check fluid level in hydraulic system Service and Repair
- Read out fault memory and clear entered faults
Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the manual transmission.





Recycling:
Catch and dispose of escaping transmission oil. Observe country-specific waste-disposal regulations.





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Drain transmission oil at oil drain plug
Tightening torque 23 00 4AZ Transmission in General.
- Remove transmission Removing and Installing Transmission (GS6S37BZ SMG)





Unfasten screws.
Remove and convert transmission bearing block.
Tightening torque 22 32 2AZ 22 32 Transmission Mounts.





E60,61,63,64 only:
Release screws and modify exhaust system bracket.





Modify following parts to new transmission:
- Release bearing and release lever Service and Repair
- Modify cover caps
- Ball pin and spring wire clip





Installation Note:
Observe greasing specification Removing and Installing Transmission (GS6S37BZ SMG).

Add final details to vehicle.

Check transmission oil level.
