SUBJECT
Buzzing Noise from the Door Speaker Area

MODEL
E90, E91 (3 Series Sedan and Sports Wagon) produced up to 12/2007

SITUATION
A buzzing noise can be heard from the area around the door speaker. This noise may be heard on a front or rear door, and is most noticeable at medium volume levels.

CAUSE
The door speaker's operation causes the door vapor barrier to vibrate. The vapor barrier may vibrate in such a way that it contacts the steel inner frame of the door, or the speaker itself.

CORRECTION
Replace the affected vapor barrier with the updated part. The vapor barriers have been updated to include additional foam pads on both the inside and outside of the part.

PROCEDURE

1. Remove the affected front or rear door panel per Repair Instruction RA 51 41 000 (front) or 51 42 000 (rear).

2. Replace the affected vapor barrier with an updated part per Repair Instruction RA 51 48 060 (front) or 51 48 070 (rear).
