SUBJECT
Self-leveling Suspension Faults

MODEL
E61 with N52 or N54 engine

SITUATION
The vehicle has a Check Control message "Self-leveling suspension failed/malfunctioning" displayed.

At least one of the following fault codes is stored, and is currently present in the EHC control unit:

^ 5F98 control-time fault, lifting rear left

^ 5F99 control-time fault, lifting rear right

^ 5F9A control-time fault, lifting

CAUSE

Fault in the compressor unit

CORRECTION

If one or a combination of these faults is stored, replace the compressor unit only, using P/N 37 20 6 792 855). It is not necessary to replace the entire air supply unit.

For the compressor unit replacement instructions, refer to REP 37 22 750.

[NEW] Note:
The replacement compressor has several technical improvements, which may result in a distinct audible difference when running compared to the original compressor. This "raspier" sound is a normal characteristic of the replacement compressor.
