Evaporator Core: Service and Repair

64 51 591 - Removing and installing/replacing evaporator





Warning!
Scalding hazard!
Work on the cooling system may only be carried out when it has cooled down.





Necessary preliminary tasks:
- Remove microfilter housing. Removing and Installing/Replacing Microfilter Housing
- Remove instrument panel trim. 51 45 030 Removing and Installing Instrument Panel Trim
- Remove heater housing assembly. Service and Repair
- Remove temperature sensor in cover for heater core.
- Remove cover for heater core.
- Remove Branket for pipes.





- Remove pipes on heater core.




- Remove Heater core. Remove retainers (1) and remove double pipe (2) towards top. Raise heater core (3) at front and remove.
- Remove actuator for fresh air/recirculated air flap, right.
- Remove bracket for actuator, right.
- Remove limit switch for blower motor.
- Remove actuator for fresh air/recirculated air flap, left.
- Remove temperature sensor, left.





- Remove wiring harness.
- Remove pipes in blower housing.
- Remove bottom section of housing on upper section.
- Remove evaporator core.
- Reverse removal procedures to install evaporator core.
