SUBJECT
FC 2EF4 Characteristic Map Thermostat

MODEL
E70 (X5) vehicles equipped with the N52K engine from start of production up to 9/2007

SITUATION
The customer complains that the Service Engine Soon lamp is illuminated. Fault code 2EF4 Characteristic Map Thermostat is stored in DME fault memory.

CAUSE
DME software calibration related to high heating requirements during subzero driving conditions.

CORRECTION
Reprogram vehicle with V27.1 (I-level E070-07-09-520) or higher.

Covered under the terms of the BMW New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
