Seal Must Be Replaced when Rear View Camera Is Removed

MODEL
E70 (X5) with option 03AG (Rear View Camera)

Vehicles produced up to 11/25/2007

SITUATION
In order to avoid corrosion following a rear view camera (RFK) removal and reinstallation or replacement, it is essential that the seal be replaced at the same time.

CAUSE
If the original seal is used, it will not reseal correctly because it has been compressed.

PROCEDURE
Replace the seal any time that the RFK is removed, whether the RFK is replaced or reinstalled. The new part must be Index 5 or higher (stamped on the inside of the seal).

Note: Before replacing an RFK, perform all relevant test modules. Only replace the RFK if directed to do so by the test module. Failure to follow the test module instructions may affect your warranty claim.
