SUBJECT: RUST FORMING ON LUGGAGE RACK SLAT SCREWS (REPLACE SLATS AND SCREWS)

MODELS AFFECTED: 1991 ROADMASTER WAGONS


CONDITION: Rust forming on luggage rack slat screws.

CAUSE: Galvanic corrosion between screw and metal reinforcement in slat.

CORRECTION: Replace slats and screws with the following part numbers as outlined in the service manual.

Slat part number: 10196179 (5 required)

Screw part number: 10196105 (20 required)

Parts are expected to be available on May 13, 1991. Until then, normal part orders will not be accepted by GMSPO. Only verifiable emergency VIP orders will be accepted. SPO will make every effort to obtain parts. All parts will be placed on 400 control to waive VIP surcharges. However, the part will be shipped premium transportation at dealers expense. All other order types will be cancelled as incorrectly ordered while the 400 control is in place.
