SUBJECT: REAR AXLE ABS SENSOR RING REPLACEMENT (NEW SENSOR RING)

MODELS AFFECTED: 1991 ROADMASTER

When servicing the rear axle drive pinion, it may be necessary to remove the ABS sensor ring which may affect the original press fit dimensions and tolerances. This could result in false speed signals due to sensor ring slippage. (See Figure 1)

In order to maintain original press fit dimensions and tolerances whenever the sensor ring is removed, a new sensor ring must be installed.

FIGURE 2:

Identify the rear axle in question by locating the axle code stamped on the axle tube (See Figure 2). Using the obtained axle code, cross reference for the appropriate replacement sensor ring part number (See Table 1).

Reference Section 4B of the Roadmaster Service Manual for removal and installation procedures. Also, note in the Service Manual that additional information is available referencing this Service Bulletin.
