Transmission Shift Position Indicator Lamp: Description and Operation
The PRNDL Indicators are controlled by the IPC as commanded by the PCM via serial data. These indicators display the transaxle gear position. As a bulb check procedure, the PCM will command this telltale "ON" for when the IPC and PCM are powered up (ignition in "OFF/UNLOCK," "RUN," or "CRANK" position) and the engine is not running. Vehicles with a center console will have an additional PRNDL display from the PRNDL Control Module. For a further description of the PRNDL Control Module.
