Oil Pressure Switch - Leak

Bulletin No. T 84-29
File In Group 6A
Number 50
Date Dec. '83
SUBJECT: OIL PRESSURE SWITCH LEAK ON 2.0L ENGINES

MODELS AFFECTED: 1984 CIMARRON

OIL PRESSURE SWITCH LOCATION:

Some 1984 2.0L L4 engines may exhibit oil leaking around the threads of the oil pressure switch (refer to figure). Care should be taken when diagnosing oil leaks to include this switch. All 2.0L engines have ultra-violet (UV) dye added to the engine oil at manufacturing plants. Engine oil leaks will appear as a yellow fluorescence under blacklight inspection.

If an engine oil leak is found in this area, remove the switch; clean the threads and apply a light coat of teflon sealing compound to the switch threads. Reinstall the switch.
For warranty purposes, use Labor Operation No. N2220 at .3 hour manual transmission or .4 hour automatic transmission.
